It’s Super Bowl season and time for some serious snacking! Here are a few simple recipes (all can be made in advance of game day).

 

Red Hot Lime Dip

Yeah you can add your envelope of favourite dip mix to a tub of sour cream… but why not change things up a little this year with this super simple recipe.

You will need:

1 tub of sour cream
2 tbs. of Franks Red Hot sauce
1 tbs. of lime juice (or lemon)
1 tsp of salt

How to: all ingredients to the sour cream and mix well. This dip taste better made the day before. Perfect for chips and specially for dipping chicken wings!

 

Chip mix

Chili chips, perfect for Super Bowl

It’s easy to make your own chip flavour.

You will need:

A mix of 8 cups kettle potato chips (plain) and corn chips The juice of 1 lime
The zest of 6 limes
1 teaspoon each: paprika, garlic powder and cayenne.

How to: toss all of the above ingredients in a big bowl, spread on a baking sheet, bake for 5 minutes in a 350 degree oven.

 

Beer Bacon Nuts

Create your own beer nuts… and anything with bacon is awesome.

You will need:

1/3 cup of Guinness
1 cup brown sugar
6 slices of thinly chopped bacon
1 tsp. of salt
1/4 tsp. of cayenne pepper
1/2 cup corn nuts
1 cup each of almonds and peanuts

How to: in a saucepan combine beer, brown sugar, bacon, salt and cayenne. Bring to boil, then mix for about 8 minutes (beer will evaporate a little). Remove from heat and add the remainder of the ingredients. Mix til all nuts are covered, spread on lined cookie sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven (stirring once half way) for 15 minutes. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container. (will keep for about a week).
